Let's Get Frosty...some more!

Hi Friends!
It was GREAT to hear from so many of you from my last entry.  Thank YOU for the terrific response.
I have continued to "Get Frosty" this past week... or in other words...do something crazy-creative and Christmasy everyday!

If you haven't got a stocking, a little sock will do!  This week I was honored to create these personalized little socks for all the employees at Wonderland Books & Toys.  The Socks were made for all the gals, and the Gingerbread Boy was created for the one and only male employee. You can almost tell a story with these pieces...  they have magically taken on a life of their own!

Earning points with the HUBBY!  With Christmas less than a week away, I thought I better start earning points with the hubby.  SO... I mailed this GIANT handmade, painted message to my husband's office.  (I'll let you know if Santa gets the picture-LOL!)

The Christmas Tree is STANDING! (I put a few books and magazines under the base...shhhh!)  And ok, I will admit, I have gone overboard with the decorating this year.  This is tree #3...of the SIX Christmas Trees I have put up.  (Does anyone want to help me take it all down in a few weeks? LOL.)

Frosty the Cake!  My oldest daughter celebrated her Birthday on the 16th.  I asked her what bakery she wanted her cake from, when she replied, "Mom, I want YOU to make it!"  (She had to repeat herself because I went into shock there for a moment!)  I am no Ace of Cakes... but this is what we came up with.  The best part?  We made it together!!!

Congrats Laura Bawinkel you are the WINNER of the Snow Family Poster!!!  (Since we had such a terrific response...let's do it one more time!  Send me another note on this BLOG and I will pick one more winner for a signed Snow Family poster.)

In the studio, here I am with my super talented Art Interns Annabel Carillo and Allyson Miller.  They are amazing...and totally dedicated.  We have had such a good time working in the studio this holiday... it has truly felt like Santa's workshop!

Merry Merry Christmas friends! I hope you can take some time to enjoy all your hard work this holiday.  And hug your kiddos tight... I know I will!!!

Thank you for believing in this passion driven, make people happy, mommy run, creative ART studio!  Best WISHES to you in 2009...I can't wait to see you in the new year!

Let's Get Frosty!

HI Friends!
This year, I have decided to document my holiday journey.  Everyday I am committed to doing something creative to add a little extra magic to the season.  I may not always get it perfect but I'm sure having FUN.

"Let's Get Frosty!"

I gave Libbie a lesson in painting a GIAN-ORMOUS Turkey for Thanksgiving.  We hung one on the front door and the other we used as an ART activity for all the cousins & friends that came over for Turkey Day dinner! ( Libbie's work looks like His and Hers Turkey's... love that!)

I have "frost-i-sized" the mantle showcasing my new Boot-ie Socks and whimsy Santa!

This is my 2008 commemorative poster, "Snow Family". It's a great piece because I can keep it up all winter long.  Send me a message on this Blog and I will put your name in a drawing for a FREE and signed poster.  ( I love surprises!!!)

Are all the other children going to laugh and call my kids names because they have headed to school with these lunch bags?  Seriously NOT... they are too much FUN.  I also made Santa bags...and packed them with a little Ho-Ho!

Sheeesh...Don't cha hate it when this happens?  NO worries... I picked it right back up and continued decorating.  Tune in next time to see it standing...I hope!

Thumpety...thump-thump... I must go paint...and decorate!  Have a great day celebrating this magical holiday.
Cheers!
Lisa

Top ten reasons to come to FROST & FRIENDS!

Hi Friends...
With less than one week until the BIG event I find myself reminiscing back to when "Frost & Friends" began...9 years ago.   For those of you that were there, you may remember my newborn baby sleeping in her bassinet, surrounded by ladies and artwork...in the middle of my living room!  WOW...how we have grown since then! But over the years one thing is for sure, we have maintained our spirit of giving and FUN and it is this excitement that more people want a piece of.   And I say, "BRING IT...let's spread the CHEER!"
I can't wait to see you this weekend!

A BIG Thank You!

Have you ever been so grateful to someone for something?  I'm sure you have.

Recently, I found myself doing some gratitude correspondence.  I sat down at my desk and I started writing..."Dear Amy, this is a BIG thank you"...
(when , ah-ha!  It came to me.  A BIG thank you could literally be a BIG thank you!)

Minutes later I was cutting large paper and painting the words"THANK YOU".  Then I thought of my friends that were in need of a BIG hug...so I painted the word "HUG".

Several minutes after that...(when the paint had dried of course), I sprinkled the papers with gold star confetti and I folded it super-duper small (small enough to fit into a biz card envelop).  I addressed, stamped and sent it on it's way.

I smiled all the way to the post office thinking of the BIG surprise I just pulled off...I LOVE IT!!!

Thank YOU with Hugs to my friends for all of your love and support!!!

Centerpiece Idea!

Here is a FUN idea for a centerpiece for your next event!

Recently, I was the coordinator of my 20-year class reunion.
The theme was "88 was great!"
We had a dinner/ dance at Giovanni's and needed a festive and eye-catching centerpiece that would not block the view from across the table.

Three weeks before the event I had an "Ah-Ha" moment.  (I love those!)  I thought, why not paint a pennant?

I painted these pennants on canvas in the school colors. (I know... I know...I couldn't help myself... I added leopard spots and black & white checks.)

For the poles, the helpers and I painted the dowel-rods and finials gold.   We attached everything with screws and the might glue gun!

For the bases we painted paper mache boxes in zebra stripes.  We cut a hole in the top for the dowel rod and filled the inside with floral foam for anchoring, and landscaping all- purpose rock for weight.

Ta- Da!!!

Step one... painting.

Here is my Libbie...showcasing the work-in-progress!

Sherry, Rachel and (yours truly)...screwing the finals in the dowel rods.

Rachel...so proud that we finished...truly a "ta-da" moment!!!

Painting with the Sunflowers

On Mon July 21st, at the award winning Discovery Center Museum, I chartered my art ship into my FAVORITE territory...painting with children!

The class was called, "Painting with the Sunflowers" and it was a part of the Messy Monday program, funded in part by the Arts Council.

My job was to teach the children how to paint these garden glories. And that we did...we had 95 little and big artists create amazing paintings ( ranging in age from 2-17)!

The main objective in teaching this class was to teach the children to paint by "looking with your eyes" but "painting with your heart".

What a beautiful day...thank you kids!!!
